Check the business licence and export record, test their OE number competence on your exact part numbers, buy paid samples, arrange a third-party inspection for the first order, and get warranty and after-sales terms in writing. A supplier that completes all five steps transparently is safe to scale with; hesitation at any step is a disqualifier.

Step 1: Check business registration and export history

Ask for the business licence and confirm the company name matches the bank account name on the proforma invoice. Then verify export experience: which markets they ship to, which forwarders they use, and whether they have handled HS codes for appliance parts (commonly 8413, 8414, 8509 and 8516 families). A supplier that exports regularly knows carton labelling, CE and RoHS declaration paperwork and consolidation practice.
